Baseball sent to 10th-inning loss to Texas State on Tuesday night

The Longhorns were edged 11-10 by the Bobcats in San Marcos.
SAN MARCOS, Texas—Six runs in the final three innings of play sent Texas Baseball to an 11-10 road loss at the hands of Texas State on Tuesday night at Bobcat Ballpark in San Marcos.
Despite pounding out a season-high-tying 15 hits, the Longhorns were unable to hold on against the Bobcats. Texas entered the ninth inning with a 10-7 lead but junior right-hander Kyle Johnston was unable to shut the door.
A walk and a pair of hits off the Flower Mound native gave the Bobcats the bases loaded with no outs. Another Texas State single plated two to make it 10-9 before another walk gave the Bobcats the bases loaded once again.
Parker Joe Robinson (0-1) entered in relief of Johnston in the bases-loaded, no-out situation and allowed just one run to score on a sacrifice fly. With the ballgame tied at 10-10, Texas State managed to put two on before a bloop single plating the game-winner for Texas State.
Earlier in the ballgame, the Texas offense went on a tear. Led by Tate Shaw's 4-for-6, 4-RBI effort and Travis Jones' 3-for-5, 2-RBI day, Texas pumped out 15 hits and 10 runs in the ballgame.
Michael McCann, Bret Boswell and David Hamilton each added two hits apiece in the ballgame while both Jones and Kody Clemens went deep.
The Longhorns return to UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Wednesday night to face off against UT - Rio Grande Valley at 6:30 p.m. CT.
