Hamilton's walk-off grand slam lifts No. 24 Baseball to 11-10 win

Down by four in the ninth, Texas rallied to win it on a walk-off grand slam by David Hamilton.
AUSTIN, Texas—No. 24 Texas Baseball (31-17) capped off its five-run ninth inning rally with a walk-off grand slam off the bat of shortstop David Hamilton to defeat Texas State, 11-10, on Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The Longhorns fell into an early hole against Texas State when the Bobcats put up one in the first and two in the third to make it 3-0. Texas fought back, however, putting up a four-spot in the bottom of the third to take the lead.
Tate Shaw opened the inning with an infield single and Masen Hibbeler followed with an RBI double to put the Longhorns on the board. Duke Ellis then singled to put runners on the corners and a Kody Clemens RBI groundout made it a one-run game. Designated hitter Zach Zubia then smashed a game-tying double to make it 3-3 before a Hamilton single and throwing error by the third baseman put Texas on top, 4-3.
In the fourth, DJ Petrinsky blasted his fifth home run of the season to make it 5-3 before a Hibbeler sac fly pushed the lead to 6-3.
Texas State would not go quietly in the game as they added two in the fifth, three in the sixth, and two in the seventh to rally for a 10-6 lead.
In the top of the ninth, the Longhorns mounted a rally of their own. After walks to Hibbeler and Ellis, Clemens smoked a single to right field that the outfielder couldn't handle, allowing Hibbeler to score to make it 10-7. After Zubia walked to load the bases, Hamilton took the 3-2 offering over the right field wall for his third homer of the season and first walk-off grand slam for Texas since Preston Clark in the 2009 NCAA Regional.
The Longhorns head back on the road this weekend with a three-game Big 12 Conference series at No. 9 Texas Tech.
