No. 22 Baseball falls to UTSA

Big fifth inning too much for Longhorns to overcome
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 22 Texas baseball held a 6-0 lead until UTSA scored eight runs in the fifth inning to rally for a 10-7 win over the Longhorns.
It all started well as the Longhorns scored three runs in the first and three more in the third.
Texas sent eight men to the plate in the three-run first inning. The first three Longhorns reached base, as Duke Ellis walked, Eric Kennedy singled and DJ Petrinsky walked to load the bases. Zach Zubia hit into a double play but the first run of the game crossed the plate.
Back-to-back two-out RBI singles from Ryan Reynolds and Tate Shaw made the score 3-0.
Texas used a pair of homers to score three more runs in the third inning. Zubia started the inning with his second blast of the season, a low line drive to left field. After Ryan Reynolds doubled to right field, Tate Shaw hit his first home run of the season to make the score 6-0.
Reynolds finished the game 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Eric Kennedy was 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Shaw had a 2-for-4 game with three RBI.
UTSA came back with a vengeance in the fifth inning, scoring eight runs to take an 8-6 lead. The Roadrunners tacked on a run in the sixth and scored one more run came home in the seventh to make the UTSA lead 10-6.
Texas scored one in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single by Reynolds

Texas welcomes No. 2 LSU to UFCU Disch-Falk Field for a three-game series March 1-3. The Longhorns and Tigers get the series started Friday at 6:30 p.m.
