The Longhorns' vertical jumpers head to San Antonio to post qualifying marks for postseason action.
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 7/3 Texas Track and Field program is slated to send student-athletes to the Roadrunner Invitational this weekend in San Antonio to compete in vertical jumps and multi-event competition. The most notable of the group is Leo Neugebauer, who is scheduled to compete in the decathlon with the goal being to post an NCAA Championships qualifying score.
Neugebauer, a two-time All-American in the heptathlon indoors, took part in his first collegiate decathlon last month at the 93rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. He did not complete the 10-event competition, however, after fouling out in the discus competition. Prior to his foul-out, Neugebauer was leading the field with 5,121 points through six events – a pace that had him on track to post one of the top decathlon scores in Texas history. The decathlon at the Roadrunner Invitational begins on Thursday, April 15, and concludes Friday, April 16, this week. Thursday's action will feature the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400-meter race. Friday's conclusion will include competition in the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500-meter run.
In addition to Neugebauer, UT's lineup of competitors will feature fellow multi-event competitor Philip Frank, high jumpers Jared Dupree, Riley Foreman and pole vaulters Grahm Gonzalez and Warren Miller. On the women's side, Olivia Buntin and Madison Gawthorp will compete in the pole vault, while Chloe Davis, Marleen Guerrero and Trinity Tomlinson compete in the high jump.
