No. 19 Baseball holds on to win Baylor series

WACO, Texas – No. 19 Texas Baseball held on for a thrilling 7-6 win over Baylor to take the series over the Bears on Sunday at Baylor Ballpark.
The Longhorns (26-12, 8-4) trailed 5-3 before scoring three runs in the seventh and one run in the eighth to finish off the Bears.
Eric Kennedy went 3-for-5 with a double and a crucial solo home run in the top of the eighth. Jared Thomas also had a three-hit day, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored.
Lebarron Johnson Jr. pitched the final innings out of the bullpen, giving up just one run and striking out four batters to pick up his first save. David Shaw 2/3 of an inning and picked up his second win of the season.
Baylor opened the scoring in the second inning, utilizing a slew of free passes to take a 2-0 lead without a hit.
Texas got a run back in the top of the third after loading the bases with no outs. The only run in the inning was on an RBI groundout by Peyton Powell.
The Longhorns took a 3-2 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth. Thomas got it all started with a single, stolen base and a dirt ball to end up at third base. Dylan Campbell drove him in with an RBI single up the middle. Campbell went to third on a single by Powell and scored on a sacrifice fly by Garret Guillemette.
The Bears retook the lead, 5-3, with three unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Texas put up a three-spot of its own in the top of the seventh, to retake the lead 6-5. Powell reached on an error and Guillemette was hit by a pitch before Porter Brown hit an RBI double off the wall in left-center. After a pitching change, Rylan Galvan lined a two-run single to center to give the Longhorns the lead.
Eric Kennedy launched his eighth home run of the season, a solo shot in the top of the eighth to extend the Texas lead to 7-5.
Baylor got a run back in the bottom of the eighth off of Johnson to trim the Longhorns' lead to 7-6. Johnson pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the ballgame.
Texas returns home for the next five games at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, starting against Abilene Christian on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
