The Longhorns held on for a 3-2 win and will go for the series sweep on Sunday.

FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas Baseball held on for a narrow 3-2 win behind a great relief outing by Lebarron Johnson Jr. to clinch the series over TCU on Sunday at Lupton Stadium.

The Longhorns (30-15, 10-7) will go for the sweep of the Horned Frogs on Monday at 1 p.m.

Porter Brown closed out the win with a dramatic game-ending double play, catching a shallow fly ball and throwing out a runner at the plate to end the game.

Johnson was incredible out of the bullpen, pitching 6.1 scoreless innings to pick up his fourth win of the season. He allowed just three hits and did not issue a free pass, while striking out six batters.

David Shaw picked up his first save of the season, recording the final two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

Peyton Powell went 2-for-4 with two RBI, including driving in the game-winning run in the eighth.

TCU opened the scoring with a run on two hits off of starter DJ Burke in the first. The Horned Frogs scored another run in the second on an RBI triple to go up 2-0.

The Longhorns knotted the game 2-2 on a couple of hits in the top of the third. Jack O'Dowd was hit by a pitch and Jared Thomas singled to put two runners on. Peyton Powell doubled down the right field line to drive in the Longhorns' first run and Dylan Campbell tied the game with a sacrifice fly.

Johnson came out of the bullpen in the third and proceeded to retire the first nine batters he faced. The first baserunner he allowed was on a single in the sixth but he worked around it.

Texas grabbed its first lead of the day with a run in the top of the eighth inning to take a 3-2 lead. O'Dowd worked a leadoff walk and was sacrificed to second by Thomas. Powell then delivered the clutch go-ahead RBI single up the middle.

TCU threatened in the bottom of the ninth, getting a pair of singles to put runners on the corners with one out before Shaw coaxed the fly out double play to end the game.
