· A four-year letterwinner as a catcher for Coach Bobby Doe and Coach Ted?Nowell at Poteet (Texas) High School.
· Named first-team all-district as a catcher his sophomore, junior and senior seasons.
· Batted .397 with 36 runs, 13 doubles, two home runs and 37 RBI as a senior.
· Hit .468 with 41 home runs and 51 RBI and helped the?Pirates to the Class 4A State Finals as a junior.
· Batted .391 with 33 runs, 29 hits, two home runs and 32 RBI as a sophomore to help Pirates reach the regional quarterfinals.
· Hit .320 with 26 runs, 26 hits and 21 RBI as a freshman to earn District 10-4A Newcomer of the Year.
· Batted .395 with 49 hits, seven doubles, two triples, six home runs and 36 RBI for the D-Bat summer league team in 2008.
