INDOOR: Competed five times … took second with a 7.88 in the 60m hurdles at the Leonard Hilton Invitational in his season opener … also finished the 200m in 23.02 … dropped his 60m hurdles mark to 7.78 with a third-place finish at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational … clocked a 7.85 followed by a 7.84 en route to a seventh-place finish at the Razorback Invitational … earned NCAA Championships qualification after running a personal-best 7.67 in the semifinal heat of the Tiger Paw Invitational … also dropped a personal-best 60m time at 6.92 … won his second-straight Big 12 title in the 60m hurdles with a 7.71 in the final … earned USTFCCCA All-America honors in the 60m hurdles during the pandemic-shortened season.
2018-19 (Senior)
OUTDOOR: Took third in the 110m hurdles at the Clyde Littelfield Texas Relays … won the 110m hurdles at the National Relay Championships … ran a personal-best 200m, posting a 21.80, at the National Relay Championships … was the third-place finisher in the 110m hurdles at the Big 12 Championships.
INDOOR: Placed fourth in the 60m hurdles at the Clemson Invitational … won the event with a 7.83 at the Charlie Thomas Invitational … topped the podium again after running a 7.85 at the Texas Tech Shootout … made it three-straight victories with a 7.73 personal-best time in the Big 12 Championships … earned All-America honors with a fifth-place finish in the 60m hurdles at the NCAA Championships.
2017-18 (Junior)
OUTDOOR: Was a first-team All-American after finishing eighth in the 110m hurdles at the NCAA Championships … started the season at the Texas Relays, finishing second in the 110m hurdles … clocked a 13.98 to finish fifth in the event at the National Relay Championships … won the Big 12 title with a. 13.71 in the prelims and a wind-aided 13.56 (2.8) in the finals … also ran a personal-best 10.72 in the 100m … finished second in the NCAA West Prelims with a 13.61 (1.8) personal best in the 110m hurdles … clocked 14.01 in the NCAA Outdoor final.
INDOOR: Finished fourth in the 60m hurdles at the Corky Classic … won the event at the Texas A&M Quadrangular … finished second with a 7.81 at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic … scored in fifth place at the Big 12 Championships.
2016-17 (Sophomore)
OUTDOOR: Finished 17th in the 110m hurdles prelims at the NCAA Championships … was the third-place finisher with a wind-aided 13.75 at the NCAA West Region Preliminary Rounds … took third in the 60m hurdles at the Big 12 Championships, clocking a wind-aided 13.77 in the final … finished sixth at the Longhorn Invitational in late April, his first collegiate track competition since the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships in June.

2015-16 (Freshman)
OUTDOOR: Earned the first All-America honor of his career with an ninth-place finish in the 4x100m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships … also finished 23rd in the 110m hurdles prelims … finished 11th in the hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminaries … took fourth at the Longhorn Invitational … finished ninth in the final after a fifth-place preliminary run at the Texas Relays .. scored a second-place finish in the hurdles at the Power Conference Cardinal & Gold … opened his collegiate outdoor career with a third-place finish in the 110m hurdles at the TCU Invitational.
INDOOR: Made his collegiate track debut at UT in the 60m hurdles at the Texas A&M Team Invitational … took 17th after clocking 8.61 … dropped his time to 8.17 at the Conference Clash / Power 5 Invite one week later … continued to improve with an 8.06 and 10th-place finish in the prelims at the 41st Annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational … finished sixth in the 60m hurdles at the Big 12 Championships, clocking 8.14.

PERSONAL: Born in Tallahassee, Fla. … son of Tonja and Ray Matthews, and John Burt III … mother is a lawyer … a four-year member of the honor roll in high school … grandmother, Barbara White, is the senior program coordinator in UT’s school of undergraduate studies … enjoys video games, ping pong and going to the movies … also a five-year member of the Texas Football team, playing in 51 career games … graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in communication and leadership.
