Backed by a strong pitching performance and a 4-for-4 day from DJ Petrinsky, White took a 2-0 lead in the series.
AUSTIN, Texas—Though marred by some late inning controversy, White rolled to a 6-1 win over Orange in game two of the Fall World Series. Right-handers Cole Quintanilla and Michael Streitmann combined for nine innings of one-run ball while the White bats pounded out 13 hits in the potential series-clinching win.
The controversy came when Orange head coach Ryan Reynolds filed a protest due to possibly errant substitution methods by White head coach Austin Todd. Acting commissioner—and Texas head coach—David Pierce announced he would make a ruling on the game prior to Sunday's first pitch.
The White squad took a 1-0 lead after the second inning when DJ Petrinsky, who went 4-for-4 in the ballgame, singled to start things off. Bryson Smith then followed with an RBI double to put White out in front.
Orange answered back in the fourth when, after freshman Eric Kennedy singled and stole a pair of bases, Lance Ford singled up the middle to drive him in and make it 1-1.
The contest was not tied for long, however, as White put up a pair of runs in both the fourth and the fifth to make it 5-1 and added one more in the sixth for a 6-1 advantage.
