AUSTIN, Texas – Fueled by a seven-run second inning, No. 14 Texas Baseball rebounded with a 10-2 win over Kansas State Saturday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

The Longhorns (23-14, 5-5 Big 12) used the big second inning and a great start by Blair Henley to even the series and set up a Sunday rubber match. Zach Zubia hit a grand slam as part of the seven-run inning and finished the game 2-for-4 with six RBI.

Henley pitched seven innings and allowed just one run on six hits. He struck out seven batters and did not issue a walk to pick up his sixth win of the season.

With the game still scoreless, Texas came to life in the second. Masen Hibbeler and Ryan Reynolds started the inning with singles before Sam Bertelson drove in the first run of the game with a ground-rule double to left field.

Michael McCann legged out an infield single to drive in another run and Duke Ellis followed with a single up the middle to make it 3-0. Zubia provided the big blast in the inning, hitting a two-out grand slam to right-center field to cap the seven-run outburst.

Zubia added a run to the lead in the fourth inning, lining an RBI single to left field that drove in Ellis. Another run scored in the fifth on an RBI groundout by McCann to make the lead 9-0.

Kansas State got on the board in the sixth inning after back-to-back two-out hits. Henley was able to get a strikeout to end the threat.

The Longhorns got the run right back though after Austin Todd hit a triple off the wall in right field and scored on a sacrifice fly by Zubia for a 10-1 lead in the seventh.

The Wildcats tacked on one more run in the ninth inning on a solo homer off of Matt Whelan. The sophomore pitched two innings of relief and allowed just the one run with two strikeouts.
