Baseball sweeps NDSU with 7-4 win

The Longhorns swept the midweek series with the Bison and extended their winning streak to seven games.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball finished off the midweek sweep of North Dakota State with a 7-4 win on Wednesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The Longhorns (11-7) have now won seven-straight games on their season-long 14-game homestand and will host New Orleans for a three-game series starting on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Eric Kennedy had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, two RBI and three runs scored. Dylan Campbell was also productive, going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored.
Cody Howard pitched two scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts to earn his first career win. He pitched the seventh and eighth innings and got a big strikeout to end his night.
For the second-straight day, North Dakota State scored a run in the first inning to grab a 1-0 lead. The Bison scored one more in the second to take a 2-0 lead off of Texas starting pitcher Ace Whitehead.
The Longhorns cut into the lead with a run in the second after Jared Thomas walked, stole second base, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch.
Kennedy tied the game up in the bottom of the third with a solo homer launched way out to right field.
The Bison came right back with two unearned runs in the fourth to retake the lead, 4-2.
Campbell tied the game back up in the bottom of the fifth with another longball, this time a two-run homer to left field to knot the game 4-4.
Kennedy launched his second home run of the day in the bottom of the seventh to give Texas its first lead of the day, 5-4.
The Longhorns got some insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to make the score 7-5. Jack O'Dowd singled and was sacrificed to second by Mitchell Daly before Thomas drove him in with an RBI single up the middle. Garret Guillemette then hit an RBI triple off the wall in center field to drive in the final run.
Zane Morehouse closed out the game for his first career save, pitching a scoreless ninth inning with three strikeouts.
