No. 19 Baseball wins 5-2 at Texas State

The Longhorns and Bobcats will square off again on Tuesday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
SAN MARCOS, Texas – No. 19 Texas Baseball picked up a 5-2 win over Texas State on Monday in front of a Bobcat Ballpark record crowd of 3,425.
The Longhorns (24-10, 6-3) scored five runs on seven hits and held the Bobcats to just two runs on six hits.
Kobe Minchey pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts in his first career start. He worked around a double in the first inning and a single in the second to keep the game scoreless through two innings. He stranded two more runners in the third inning to complete his outing.
Heston Tole came out of the bullpen to toss three shutout innings of relief. Chris Stuart pitched 1.2 innings of relief and struck out four batters. Zane Morehouse finished off the win with 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
The Longhorns broke up the deadlock with three runs in the top of the third. Jared Thomas and Dylan Campbell both singled to start the inning and Porter Brown was intentionally walked to load the bases. The Rylan Galvan worked a bases-loaded walk to drive in the first run of the game. After a pitching change, Jack O'Dowd slashed a two-run single through the left side of the infield to make the score 3-0.
Texas got some much-needed insurance in the bottom of the eighth to extend the lead to 5-0. Rylan Galvan hit a one-out double before a pinch-hit walk by Cam Constantine. With two outs, pinch-hitter Jalin Flores smacked a two-run double to left field.
Texas State got on the board with two runs in the eighth inning to trim the Longhorns lead to 5-2.
Texas and Texas State will finish their midweek series on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
