AS A JUNIOR (2018)
Pitched 2.1 innings in relief vs. Oklahoma in game two of the Big 12 Conference tournament…after allowing three runs (one earned) in the first on May 18 vs. TCU, settled down to throw 5.0 complete…he did not factor into the decision…pitched a perfect 8th inning on May 15 vs. Texas State…gave up a career-high eight runs (all earned) in the loss at Texas Tech…allowed five earned runs on Saturday at West Virginia but did not factor into the decision…ad a career outing on April 21 vs. New Orleans…went a career-long 7.2 innings, striking out five and walking just one in the win…started on April 14 at OU and went five innings…left with a no decision…went a career-high seven innings on April 7 vs. Baylor, throwing a career-high 120 pitches and shutting out the Bears over seven…picked up the win on March 31 at K-State…allowed five runs but settled in to toss 6.0 innings…lasted just three innings on March 25 vs. Oklahoma State but picked up a no decision…earned his first win of the season on 3/18 vs. Kansas…took the loss on March 11 vs. Stanford but picked up the save two days prior vs. the Cardinal…allowed five runs for the second straight start on 3/2 vs. Northwestern…allowed just six hits and a walk while striking out six…gave up his first homer of the season…threw four shutout innings on Feb 24 at LSU but allowed five earned runs in the 5th frame…made his first career start on Feb 17 vs. Louisiana…went 6.2 innings, allowing just three hits and one unearned run while striking out three…received a no-decision.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2017)
Pitched for the Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape Cod League following his sophomore season…finished the season with 29 appearances, second-most on the staff…went 3-2 with a 3.43 ERA (16-ER, 42.0-IP)…lowered his ERA 2.62 runs over the final two months of the season (from 6.05 on April 9 to 3.43 on June 5)…threw a career-high 3.2 innings on June 5 at Long Beach State in the NCAA Long Beach Regional…allowed just three hits and a walk in that outing to keep the Longhorns within one run…allowed just 3 ER over his final 15 appearances and none in his final four appearances, two of which game in the Long Beach Regional…picked up his third save of the season on May 27 vs. TCU in the Big 12 tournament…picked up his third win of the year on May 24 vs. Oklahoma, also in the Big 12 tournament…picked up his first win of the year on March 26 vs. K-State and his first save on Feb 24 vs. UCONN.
AS A FRESHMAN (2016)
Finished his freshman campaign with a 2-3 record and a 4.53 ERA (22-ER, 43.2-IP) in 32 appearances, all out of the bullpen … collected a team-high five saves … his 32 appearances were second-most on the pitching staff … made three appearances in the Big 12 Tournament, totaling 3.2 innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits, one walk and three strikeouts … made two outings in the final regular season series vs. Baylor … pitched 2.1 hitless innings on May 20 vs. Baylor, walking one and striking out a career-high five … picked up his fifth save in the regular season finale vs. Baylor on May 21 … tossed the final two innings on May 3 vs. Prairie View A&M to secure the 7-0 combined shutout victory for Texas … registered a perfect ninth innings with two strikeouts on April 26 vs. Texas State … earned his third save of the year on April 19 vs. UT Rio Grande Valley … appeared on April 2 and April 3 at Oklahoma, throwing five scoreless frames and striking out three … appeared in each game of the three-game set vs. TCU from March 24-26 … struck out the side in one inning of work on March 8 vs. Sam Houston State … did not allow a run in his first 8.1 career innings … notched his first win on February 26 vs. Stanford with 1.2 scoreless innings … made his collegiate debut on February 19 vs. UNLV, tossing two scoreless innings while fanning two.
HIGH SCHOOL
A three-year letterwinner who pitched while also playing third base and outfield ... district MVP and all-state selection as a junior when he went 10-1 with a 1.64 ERA and 127 strikeouts on the mound and hit .360 at the plate ... a 2014 Perfect Game Underclass third team All-American ... first team all-district as a sophomore when he hit .354 and had a 1.65 ERA in 29.2 innings on the mound ... second team all-district as a freshman ... also plays football, earning second team all-district honors at safety as a sophomore and honorable mention as the quarterback his junior season.

Grandson of Ronnie and Wanda Shugart ... his uncle, Ronnie, played baseball at Jacksonville from 1989-90.
