Selected in the eighth round by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft…named the inaugural Brooks Kieschnick Team MVP and Keith Moreland Offensive Player of the Year for his efforts during the 2017 season.
AS A SENIOR (2017)
Earned second team Academic All-Big 12 honors…started 62 of 63 games for the Longhorns, missing just one game due to a suspension following his only career ejection…led the Longhorns in nearly every offensive category on the year, including average (.305, T-1st), hits (67), runs scored (48), home runs (12), RBI (49), on-base percentage (.414), and slugging percentage (.532)…became the first Texas player to hit double-digit homers since 2010…also stole 10 bases on the year, becoming the first Longhorn to record double-digit steals and home runs in the same season since Kevin Keyes in 2010 (14 SB, 15 HR)…recorded a .992 fielding percentage on the year for the Longhorns…homered on June 2 vs. UCLA in the Long Beach Regional to put Texas ahead in the postseason contest…named to the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Championship all-tournament team at first base…went 9-for-22 in the tournament with two homers, a double, and 6 RBI…in the first game of the tournament, went 3-for-5 vs. OU with homers in each of his first two at-bats and drove in four runs in the game…had a memorable senior day for Texas on May 21 vs. West Virginia, the final game of the regular season…in the first inning, he came up with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam, his second of the season…preceded to walk in his next three plate appearances…on April 15 at Baylor, hit a go-ahead two-run blast with two outs in the 10th inning to avoid the series sweep…had a 5-RBI game on April 8 vs. Oklahoma, including his first career grand slam…on March 14 vs. Texas A&M, went 2-for-3 and made a game-saving play on a squeeze attempt by the Aggies, cutting down the runner at home…had his first two-homer game on Feb 25 vs. UCONN and went 3-for-3 in the game…his first long ball of the season came on Feb 18 in game two of the doubleheader vs. Rice.
AS A JUNIOR (2016)
Named first baseman on the 2016 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship All-Tournament team after hitting .400 (6-for-15), slugging .600 and reaching base at a .545 clip … hit one homer, drove in four RBI and collected five walks and six runs scored in the tournament… finished the season with a career-best five home runs after having just one home run in his previous two seasons … went 4-for-11 (.364) in a three-game series against Baylor (May 19-21) with an RBI … drove in a run off a double to left field, going 2-for-4 during the middle frame of a three game series at West Virginia (May 7) … hit 2-for-4, driving in two runs in a win over Prarie View A&M (May 3) … homered for the fourth time this year, the winning run for the Longhorns in a game against Texas State (April 26) … was 2-for-4 on the day and crossed homeplate twice in that game against the Bobcats … went 2-for-3 in a victory over Texas Tech (April 23) with a walk, a run scored, and a sac fly RBI … drove in four runs and scored four of his own while hitting 6-for-10 (.600) over a three-game series against Kansas (April 15-16) … hit the first triple of his college career in the second game of that Jayhawks series (April 15) … went 6-for-14 (.429) with three RBIs in a three-game series against Kansas State (April 8-10), including a series opener that saw him go 4-for-5 on the day while adding his third home run of the season … went 2-for-4 in the opening game of a three-game series with Oklahoma (April 1-3) and tied his career high for walks in a game (3) the following day on the way to scoring two runs … hit 2-for-4 in the series opener against TCU (March 24-26) with a double … hit 3-for-9 (.333) total in that three-game series with TCU … had a 16-game on-base streak from Feb. 20-March 19 with games played against UNLV, Stanford, California, Sam Houston State, UCLA, Texas A&M, and Tulane … went 16-for-52 (.308) during that streak while drawing nine walks and adding 14 RBIs to his career total… went 4-for-10 (.400) in a three-game series against Tulane (March 18-20) and tied his career high in RBIs for the third time this season (3) in the second game of the weekend … had three RBIs in a single game for the fourth time in his career during a win over Sam Houston State (March 8) while going 1-for-3 with a walk and scoring two runs of his own … hit two home runs in a four-game California series (March 3-6) including a three-run homer to right field in the final game against the Bears.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2015)
Appeared in 10 games on the mound, nine of those starts, while also playing in 21 games as a positional player … held a 3-2 record with a 4.17 ERA on the mound … had a pinch hit against Texas Tech in the Big 12 Tournament on May 20 … was 1-for-1 at the plate with two walks on April 18 vs. Kansas … picked up his third win of the season April 11 vs. Oklahoma when he tossed six innings of one run ball, while allowing six hits, two walks and striking out four … spun seven scoreless innings against Nebraska March 28 while surrendering just two hits and a walk and striking out two … had two hits and a run scored vs. Oklahoma State on April 3 … made his first starts of the season at first base in the Kansas State series’ first two games on March 21, and recorded a hit that tied the game in game one of the doubleheader … is believed to be the first Longhorn to start a game as the pitcher/designated hitter since Brooks Kieschnick in 1993 when he did so on March 22 vs. Kansas State … earned his second win of the year in that contest by pitching five innings of one run ball with two hits and three walks allowed while striking out one … spun four innings of one-run ball, with five hits and two walks allowed and two strikeouts vs. UT Arlington on March 17 … was hit by a pitch in his first plate appearance of 2015 on March 13 vs. West Virginia … tossed 5 1/3 innings at Stanford on March 6, allowing three runs on just three hits and two walks in a no-decision … pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings in his first career relief appearance on the mound vs. San Diego (March 1, game two), allowing one hit and two walks, while striking out two Toreros … earned his first career collegiate victory against Minnesota on February 22 when he tossed five shutout innings, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out four … was number seven on SportsCenter’s Top-10 Plays for making an incredible grab of a hard-hit liner right back at him before doubling off the runner at second to end the third inning vs. Minnesota (2/22) … named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2014 fall semester … made his collegiate pitching debut in a start against Rice in the first game of a doubleheader on February 14, going three innings.
AS A FRESHMAN (2014)
Played in 65 games with 63 starts as the team's first baseman … fielded at a .992 clip and helped turn 57 of Texas' 71 double plays … ranked third on the team and tied for seventh in the Big 12 with 37 walks … delivered a two-run single against Vanderbilt on June 21 … went 2-for-6 in the Austin Super Regional against Houston (June 6-7) with an RBI … was 2-for-3 with a walk and all three of the team's RBIs in a 3-0 win against Oklahoma State May 22 in the Big 12 Tournament … had a 4-for-12 series with a home run, four RBIs, two runs scored and two walks against Kansas State (May 16-18) … hit his first career home run on May 16 against Kansas State, a three-run shot … was 4-for-12 a double, two walks, two runs scored and four RBIs against Oklahoma (April 11-13) … went 3-for-10 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and two walks against Baylor (April 4-6) … had a double, three runs scored and three walks in a doubleheader against Columbia on March 22 … was 4-for-11 with three walks, a run scored and an RBI against Hawai'i (March 7-9) … went 2-for-4 with a run scored and the game-winning RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 8th inning against Hawai'i on March 8 … scored two runs and had an RBI against Valparaiso on March 4 … was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk against Sam Houston State on March 2 … went 2-for-3 with a run scored against Rice on February 28 … finished the Cal series 4-for-14 with three walks … recorded his first collegiate hit in a 3-for-4 effort in the first game of a doubleheader against Cal on February 15 … named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2013 fall semester and 2014 spring semester.

Lettered three years under coach Jeremy York at Houston Memorial High in Houston … named to the Louisville Slugger High School All-American Team and Rawlings All-Region First Team his senior year … was also named the District 19-5A MVP in 2013 … went 8-0 with 0.27 ERA on the mound and hit .354 with 26 RBIs at the plate as a senior … as a junior was named to the Under Armour High School All-American Team … also played three years of varsity football at safety and was named all-district his junior and senior seasons … named to the academic all-district team his sophomore, junior, and senior years … very active in community service … member of the Roger Clemens "Make a Pitch For Kids" Foundation … also supported the Help a Hero Foundation where he helped wounded soldiers move into their new homes.

Son of Roger and Debbie … has three brothers, Koby, Kory and Kody … Kody is a freshman on the UT baseball team … father played 24 seasons of Major League Baseball and was an 11-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion … he won seven Cy Young Awards during his career, the most of any pitcher in history and was a member of the 1983 UT National Championship team … is majoring in Finance.
