The Longhorns hit a season-high seven doubles and pounded out 17 total hits in the game.

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 22 Texas Baseball blasted Texas Southern 12-2 on Tuesday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorns (35-17) hit seven doubles, tying for most doubles in a game this season.

Luke Harrison had his first career start pitching 2 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run and issuing zero walks. Marcus Olivarez pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings with one strikeout and earned his first career win.

Jared Southard, Lebarron Johnson Jr., and Aaron Nixon closed out the game allowing one earned run and combining for eight strikeouts.

Skyler Messinger went 4-for-5 with a double, a homer and three RBI. Murphy Stehly was 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Silas Aroin was 2-for-3 with a homer, a double and four RBI.

Texas wasted no time in taking the lead against Texas Southern, scoring four runs in the first. Austin Todd drove in Douglas Hodo III with a double and Murphy Stehly followed with an RBI single. Silas Ardoin then hit a two-run homer, his 10^th of the season.

Trey Faltine started the second inning with a double and came around to score on a two-out double by Ivan Melendez. Stehly followed with another double to score Melendez for a 6-0 lead.

The Longhorns extended their lead to 11-1 with a five-run bottom of the fourth. After Texas loaded the bases with nobody out, Stehly hit an RBI single to left. Ardoin followed with a two-RBI double to run in Melendez and Todd, followed by a two-run single by Messinger to score Ardoin and Stehly.

Skyler Messinger added a run to the scoreboard in the eighth with a solo homer over left field to close out the game 12-2.

The Longhorns will head into their bye week and will be back in action next Tuesday against Sam Houston at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
