AS A JUNIOR (2016)
Earned 2016 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball honors and picked up All-Big 12 honorable mention … hit. 350 (7-for-20) in five games in the Big 12 Baseball Championship … hit a home run and added six RBI in the tournament … drove in three runs over the course of a three-game series with Baylor (May 19-21) … hit his fifth home run of the year and drew two walks in the second of a three-game series against West Virginia (May 7) … made his first career appearance at second base in a start against Prarie View A&M (May 3) … hit 5-for-13 (.385) with two doubles in a three game series against Oklahoma State (April 30-May 1) … went 4-for-10 (.400) with three doubles and three RBIs over a three-game series at Texas Tech (April 22-24) … stole his second base of the season in the final game of that series against the Red Raiders … hit his fourth home run of the year, a no-doubter over the left field wall, while going 5-for-12 (.417) in a three-game series against Kansas (April 15-16) … drove in three runs and scored four of his own during that series against the Jayhawks … had a hit in all three games against Oklahoma, going 4-for-12 (.333) with two RBIs in the weekend series (April 1-3) … hit two home runs in a three game series against TCU (March 24-26) … earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors for the week of March 21-27 … pounded UTSA during a one-sided Longhorns victory (March 22), where he went 3-for-5 (.600) while adding four RBIs, scoring two runs of his own, and hitting his first home run of the season … made his first career appearance at third base on March 12 at UCLA … went 6-for-13 (.462) in that three-game UCLA series (March 11-13) getting three RBIs in the process … set a personal career high for walks in a single game (3) against Sam Houston State University … hit a double in the fourth game of the California series (March 6) along with a sacrifice fly RBI … stole the first base of his career against Stanford (Feb. 27) … went 5-for-14 (.357) in that four-game series against Stanford (Feb. 25-28) adding two walks and a single RBI … reached base safely six times, while going 3-for-9 (.333) and adding three RBIs to help win a three-game series over UNLV (Feb. 19-21)
AS A SOPHOMORE (2015)
Named to the All-Big 12 second team … recipient of a Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholarship (national award for minority and international student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher) … finished the year third in the conference in home runs (9), ninth in slugging (.481) and tied for eighth in walks (33) … led the team with nine home runs, a .395 on-base percentage and tied for first in runs scored (38) and walks (33); was second in hits (61) and tied for second in triples (3) … had an RBI single in each game of the Dallas Regional (May 29 & 31) … named the Big 12 All-Tournament Team catcher for his efforts including a home run, a walk-off single, a tied for team-leading four RBIs and team leading four runs scored (May 20-24) … launched a two-run first inning homer vs. Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament in a 1-for-2 effort with two runs scored and two walks on May 23 … had a walk-off RBI single against Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament (May 21) … hit .284 in conference (27-for-95) with a .809 OPS, three doubles, four home runs, 10 RBIs, 10 walks and a team-high 14 runs over 24 games … the four homers rank fifth in the league and the 14 runs scored tie him for 10th … was 2-for-5 with a game-winning ninth inning solo-home run against Baylor on May 16 … went 4-for-11 (.364) with a homer, three runs and two walks at TCU (April 25 & 26) … hit his third triple of the season against Texas State on April 21 in a two hit effort with one RBI and a run scored … went 5-for-12 in the Kansas series (April 17-19) with a double homer, three walks, two runs scored and two RBIs … was 3-for-4 with a two-run home run against Kansas on April 19 … went 4-for-12 with two runs scored and an RBI in the Oklahoma series (April 10-12) … delivered his fifth homer of the year April 4 at Oklahoma State … had a 4-for-11 series vs. Kansas State (March 21-22) with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored … was 2-for-3 with a walk, a triple, two RBIs and a run scored vs. UT Arlington on March 17 … clubbed two hits, including his fourth homer of the year, and scored two runs against Incarnate Word (March 10) … went 5-for-14 with a home run, a double, two runs scored, three RBIs and four walks in a four-game set at Stanford (March 5-8) … smashed a two-run home run (third of the season) and walked twice against Stanford on March 8 … had a 2-for-3 day with a double, an RBI and a walk at Stanford on March 7 … nominated for Big 12 Player of the Week after going 10-for-21 the week of Feb. 16-22 … had a 5-for-15 series against Minnesota (Feb. 20-22), with five runs scored, two doubles, a triple, three walks and an RBI … was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a double and a triple vs. Minnesota (Feb. 21, game two) … put himself in elite company by going 5-for-6 with six RBIs against UTSA on February 17 …the performance marked just the second time since 2003 that a Longhorn has had five hits and six RBIs in the same game … included in the five hits was a double and a three-run home run … had a 2-for-6 day at the plate in a doubleheader against Rice on February 14, with two runs scored, two walks and a massive two-run home run in game two … named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2014 fall semester.
AS A FRESHMAN (2014)
Went 5-for-15 (.333) in four games between Texas A&M and Rice in NCAA regionals (May 30-June 2) wtih two doubles and three walks … had a huge series series in three games against Kansas State (March 16-18) hitting 7-for-13 (.538) with three home runs including a series-clinching homer in the 10th inning of the final game against the Wilcats … had five RBIs in that Kansas State series while scoring five runs of his own … reached base safely in four of his five plate appearances in a win over UT-Arlington (April 15) going 3-for-4 with two walks and four RBIs … had an RBI in each game of a three-game series sweep of Oklahoma (April 11-13) while hitting 4-for-10 (.400) and crossing home three times himself … hit 7-for-15 (.467) in a three-game series against Texas Tech (March 28-30) adding six runs to his RBI total for the season and hitting the first home run of his career … went 7-for-13 (.538) with three RBIs in a three-game series sweep over Columbia (March 21-22) … went 2-for-4 and crossed home plate once in a Longhorns victory over Dallas Baptist (March 18) … had a nine-game hitting streak (March 18-April 1) in games against Dallas Baptist, Columbia, Texas State, Texas Tech, and Rice … in that streak he went 18-for-40 (.450) on the way to batting in twelve runs … hit 3-for-10 in a three-game series against Kansas (March 14-16) with a single RBI … went 3-for-4 in a win at Texas State (March 11) hitting the first triple of his career and scoring a single run of his own … went 1-for-3 after hitting his first career extra base hit on a double down the right field line in a win over Rice (Feb. 28) adding his first career RBI in the process … had his first career start and first career hit in the first game of the season against California (Feb. 14).
HIGH SCHOOL
Played for three years under coach Barton Bickerton at Mission Sharyland High School … named a Louisville Slugger first team All-American catcher as a senior in 2013 … garnered first team All-State shortstop honors as a junior and third team All-State catcher honors as a senior … named District 30-5A MVP and All-Valley Player of the Year as a senior … honored as a Perfect Game Pre-Season All-American his junior and senior seasons … batted .452 for his career with 22 home runs … also played four years of football … was named as an honorable mention All-State and All-Valley Player of the Year, as well as a District 30-5A MVP his senior season as quarterback … was on the honor roll all four years.

Son of Sylvia and Felipe Barrera … given name is Felipe Barrera III, but goes by Tres … has one younger brother, Santana … born in Eagle Pass, Texas, and lived there until he was 10, when he moved to Rio Grande Valley … hasn't declared a major but is interested in exercise science or sport management.
