One of Texas' regular starters in 2005 who moved to the bullpen in 2006 to lend experience and leadership to a young and talented corps of relievers, especially with regard to closing out games ... combines power, finesse and control on the mound ... pitches well to hitters' weaknesses and excels in big-game situations.

2006 Season
• Made 19 relief appearances and three starts in 2006 while amassing a 4-2 record, two saves, a 3.59 ERA and 41 strikeouts over 42.2 innings.
• Held opponents to a .259 average while only walking 12 on the year.
• Went 3-0 with a team-best 1.66 ERA in Big 12 action. Also notched his one save and 20 strikeouts over his 21.2 innings against league opponents, who hit only.272 against him.
• Appeared in three games during the Big 12 Tournament allowing no runs and just one hit over 5.0 innings of work while leading tournament hurlers in both ERA (0.00) and average against (.067).
• Recorded a 2.25 ERA over his last 14 appearances.
• Chosen in the 38th round (No. 1146 overall) of the 2006 MLB First-Year?Player Draft by the Minnesota Twins.
2006 Highlights
• Earned his first victory of the season versus Villanova (2/26) after allowing only two runs on five hits while fanning five over five innings.
• Sidelined with a right elbow injury from Feb. 27 through March 31.
• Allowed one unearned run on four hits while striking out three over 2.2 innings of relief to earn his second win at No. 14 Oklahoma (4/1).
• Made two relief appearances at Kansas State (4/8-9), including a season-best, 5.2-inning effort on April 9 to pick up a victory, en route to helping the Horns earn a three-game sweep of the Wildcats.
• Combined for 3.1 innings of shutout relief over two games against?No. 3 Nebraska (4/21 & 4/23).
• Appeared in all three games against Texas A&M (4/29-5/1) and allowed only three hits over 4.2 innings while walking none and fanning a pair.
• Recorded his first career save with a two-inning effort against Kansas (5/5) during which he struck out four.
• Tallied his second save of the year by striking out a pair during a perfect ninth inning of relief against Dallas Baptist (5/13).
• Hurled 2.0 innings of no-hit relief to help the Longhorns shutout Texas?Tech (5/24) in the opening game of the Big 12 Tournament.
• Came in and got out of a no-out, bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh inning versus No. 12 Nebraska (5/27) en route to hurling two innings of one-hit relief during a Big 12 Tournament semifinal game against the Huskers.
• Pitched for the Coppell Coperheads of the Texas Collegiate League.
• Named TCL Pitcher of the Year as he went 6-0 with a 1.13 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 58 innings as he helped lead the Copperheads to a division championship.

2005 Season
• Started 18 of the 25 games in which he appeared, which tied him for fifth among Big 12 Conference pitchers in starts.
• Ranked seventh among league hurlers in both strikeouts (95) and innings pitched (109.1).
• Made nine starts during Big 12 play and not only earned two wins, but
• Tied for first among Big 12 hurlers in games started and among the top 10 league pitchers in strikeouts (40 - t9th) during conference play.
• Posted a 2-0 record and tossed one complete game shutout over his five postseason appearances, which spanned 19.2 innings.
2005 Highlights
• Picked up a win at San Diego State (2/5) by allowing one earned run on six hits over five innings while striking out a career-best eight.
• Helped the Horns tally their third shutout of 2005 while also posting his second win of the season opposite Youngstown State (2/25) by pitching seven innings and fanning five batters.
• Threw seven innings and surrendered only one run on four hits while striking out seven versus Purdue (3/11).

2004 Season
• Owned a 3-1 record to go along with a 3.27 ERA after making 18 appearances, including four starts, and striking out 30 over 44 innings.?Also combined on three shutouts and held opponents to a .272 average.
• Made a total of five relief appearances during Big 12 action and not only registered a 3.60 ERA, but also struck out seven over 10 innings of work.
2004 Highlights
• Fanned two batters in two innings during his UT debut at Hawaii (1/31).
• Tossed the final scoreless inning of a shutout of San Diego (2/6).
• Earned a victory in his first career start opposite Texas State (2/17) and pitched four innings of shutout baseball, while scattering two hits.
• Came on in relief at No. 3 Stanford (2/21) and tossed a then career-best 6.2 innings, scattering four hits while striking out a pair and allowing only three unearned runs to pick up his second win of the season.
• Earned the win at No. 3 Rice (3/9) by combining with two other UT pitchers in a 5-0 shutout of the Owls as he pitched four scoreless frames in a start and allowed only five hits and one walk while fanning five.
• Hurled 5.2 innings of relief at Kansas State (4/9) and allowed only one hit while striking out five to help the Horns win a 20-inning contest.
• Used as a set-up man out of the bullpen for head coach Greg King's Hyannis Mets in the Cape Cod League during the summer of 2004. Appeared in 10 games, posting a 1-0 record to go along with the second-best ERA on the staff (1.08) and 16 strikeouts over 16.2 innings to help the Mets collect 21 wins and reach the semifinals of the playoffs.
• Turned in a seven-inning performance in which he scattered seven hits, allowed only two runs and fanned seven batters for the third time in three outings against No. 19 Texas Tech (3/24).
• Hurled a then-career best eight innings in the finale of a series opposite No. 14 Missouri (5/1) during which he scattered four hits, walked two and fanned six Tigers en route to tallying his fifth win of the season.
• Earned All-Tournament Team honors by registering his first-career complete-game effort and his first career complete-game shutout versus Kansas (5/26) during Big 12 Tournament play as he allowed only three hits while striking out seven over his nine frames.
• Pitched for the Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod League over the summer.
HIGH SCHOOL
• A four-year letterwinner in baseball (P/SS) and a three-year letterwinner in both football (QB/S/P) and basketball (G/F) at Yoakum High School.
• Captained each of the three sports he took part in for two years.
• Garnered all-state honors following three seasons, was voted on to four consecutive all-district as well as all-area squads, and netted all-district MVP recognition twice in baseball. Also claimed both all-area MVP and All-State Tournament Team laurels while helping head coach Jace Wood's Bulldogs baseball club compile a 100-16 record during his career.
• Guided Yoakum to a 29-3A District Championship and a berth in the state finals as a freshman with a .326 batting average while driving in 26 runs and also recording a 5-0 record, five saves and a 2.19 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 51.1 innings. Also tallied a total of 30 hits in his inaugural season, including seven doubles, one triple and three home runs.
• Batted.590 with 24 runs scored, 24 RBI, eight doubles and two home runs while also logging four wins, three saves, a 0.29 ERA, and 38 strikeouts over 24.1 innings as a sophomore for a Bulldogs' club that won a 29-3A District title and advanced to the regional finals.
• Produced a 12-1 record, 1.06 ERA and 143 strikeouts in 92.1 innings as junior, helping Yoakum claim its third district crown and advanced to the regional semifinals for a third straight year with a 29-3 overall record and a No. 5 ranking in Class 3A. Blasted nine home runs, seven doubles and two triples as he scored 51 runs, drove in 44 more and batted .462 in 2002.
• Tossed a three-hit shutout versus then-No. 1 ranked LaGrange High School in a 3-0 Bulldogs' 2002 playoff victory.
• Piloted Yoakum to its fourth consecutive district and area titles as he went 11-1 with a 0.29 ERA and 152 strikeouts in 73.1 innings and hit 352 with 28 runs, six doubles, nine home runs and 44 RBI.
• Played 3B and P during the summers of 2002 and 2003 for the Tri-County Rattlers (Weimar, Texas).
• Named to the All-World Series Team after the 2002 tournament for his efforts in leading the Rattlers to a Babe Ruth League National Championship as he went 6-0 with a 0.88 ERA on the summer.
• Notched an 8-0 record and 0.54 ERA while hitting .523 with eight home runs during the summer of 2003.
• Captained head coach Jessie Crow's Bulldogs' football teams for two seasons and helped them claim a pair of district championships and make one regional finals appearance as a QB, S and P.
• Named all-state and all-area twice and all-district three times in foot-ball.
• A two-time 29-3A All-District selection as a guard and forward for head coach Donald Blank's basketball squads at Yoakum High School.
• Graduated in the top 10 percent of his class and received Academic All-State honors.
• Member of the National Honor Society.
