A LOOK AT THE LONGHORNS—Last weekend, Texas dropped two of three games at No. 19 UCLA in its first road series of the season…on Tuesday at No. 3 Texas A&M, the Longhorns rallied to tie the game with four runs in the ninth…Kody Clemens hit a two-run, bases-loaded ground rule double to make it 4-2…with the bases loaded and two outs in the frame, Bret Boswell hit a two-run single to draw the game even…Texas lost on a walk-off home run off Saturday starter Ty Culbreth to lead off the Aggies half of the inning.
A LOOK AT THE GREEN WAVE—The Green Wave is coming off a 2-1 loss to Nicholls State on Tuesday night…Tulane swept a three-game series last weekend at home against Furman, outscoring its opponent 29-12…Tulane catcher Jeremy Montalbano was a catcher at UT in 2013 and 2014 before transferring to the Green Wave.
RECOVERY ROAD—Red-shirt sophomore Morgan Cooper made his third start of the season on Tuesday vs. Texas A&M…he allowed 4 runs (3 earned) over 6 innings of work for another quality start.
NEXT UP—On Tuesday night, the Longhorns will welcome UTSA in a midweek non-conference matchup…Texas then opens conference play next weekend with three games against No. 8 TCU beginning Thursday.
UNDER PRESSURE—With his ninth inning double on Tuesday, Kody Clemens is now 12-for-33 (.364) with runners on base and 2-for-5 with the bases loaded…he's 9-for-19 (.474) with runners in scoring position and 7-for-20 (.350) with 6 RBI with two outs in the inning…he's hitting just .118 (4-for-34) with the bases empty.
KACY ON BASE—After failing to reach base in the season opener, Kacy Clemens has reached safely in all 14 games that he's played in since…he has at least one hit in all but four of those games.
OTHER STREAKS—Tres Barrera, Patrick Mathis and Kody Clemens are each riding six-game hitting streaks…while Kacy Clemens has reached safely in 14 straight, Travis Jones has reached safely in 11 in a row and Bret Boswell has reached safely in eight straight.
A FAMILY AFFAIR—Familiar last names pepper the Longhorns roster as Kacy Clemens was joined by his brother, Kody, this season…their father, Roger, is a UT and MLB great…Nick Kennedy joined his brother, Ben, on the team this season…Kaleb Denny's father, David, also played at UT and Tate Shaw's brother, Collin. was on the Longhorns roster last season.
BASES JUICED—The Longhorns are now 11-for-21 (.524) with the bases loaded this season, including a 3-for-6 effort on last Tuesday vs. Sam Houston State and a 2-for-2 effort against No. 3 Texas A&M…they've also drawn a pair of bases-loaded walks on the year.
MILESTONE TRACKER—With his win on February 20 vs. UNLV, Garrido reached 800 career victories as head coach of the Longhorns…he is 43 wins away from 2,000 in his collegiate career.
HALL OF FAMER—On January 8, Garrido was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Hall of Fame…his induction gave the Longhorns program four ABCA Hall of Famers, as he joined Billy Disch (inducted in 1966), Bibb Falk (1968) and Cliff Gustafson (1992).
HAPPY AT HOME—The Longhorns have played 12 of their 17 games this season at home…overall this season, Texas plays just 18 of its 52 games away from UFCU Disch-Falk Field…among those 18 games is an April 12 contest against the University of Houston at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas, though the Longhorns will be considered the home team in that matchup.
WATCH 'EM—All but one of Texas' home games at UFCU Disch-Falk Field will be shown on Longhorn Network…former Longhorn greats Keith Moreland and Greg Swindell handle the play-by-play and color analyst duties, respectively…both broadcasters have their numbers retired at UFCU Disch-Falk Field…when Texas hosts TCU on March 25, FOX Sports 1 will take over the broadcast as a part of its season-long Big 12 schedule…the Longhorns will also appear on FOX Sports 1 on April 1 while playing at Oklahoma.
