A LOOK AT THE BOBCATS—Texas State dropped two of three to then No. 24 Louisiana-Lafayette to drop to 22-19 and 10-8 in the Sun Belt Conference.
LAST MEETING—The Longhorns traveled to San Marcos for a game against Texas State on March 1…the two squads went into extra innings tied 4-4 thanks to a solo homer from the Bobcats before the Longhorns blew open the game with a 6-run 11th inning…Chase Shugart picked up his first career win in the game.
NEXT UP—Texas hosts No. 23 Oklahoma State in a three-game Big 12 Conference series beginning on Friday…the Cowboys and Longhorns are currently tied for third in the Big 12 Conference with a 9-6 record…OSU is coming off a series win over TCU.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK—After hitting .476 (7-for-15) in four games last week, shortstop Joe Baker was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday…the sophomore hit safely in every game during the week, including a 4-for-4 effort on Sunday in the Longhorns 17-1 rout of Texas Tech…Baker hit two doubles and a home run in the ballgame en route to a 6-RBI day…Baker also picked up two walks and a stolen base, his sixth of the year…he slugged .800 and compiled a .529 on-base percentage…it is the first conference weekly award of Baker's career and the third honor for a Longhorn this season after Ty Culbreth (Pitcher, 2/29) and Tres Barrera (Player, 3/28).
THE DUKE—On April 2 at Oklahoma, left-handed reliever Travis Duke made his 100th career appearance…he has made seven apps since and currently sits tied at No. 2 among Texas pitchers all-time, trailing Austin Wood (118) by 11.
ANOTHER HALL HONOR—On March 31, the National College Baseball Hall of Fame (located in Lubbock) announced that Augie Garrido will be a part of the 2016 induction class as the winningest coach in collegiate baseball history…on January 8, he was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Hall of Fame, giving the Longhorns program four ABCA Hall of Famers, as he joined Billy Disch (inducted in 1966), Bibb Falk (1968) and Cliff Gustafson (1992).

CORNERSTONES—Juniors Tres Barrera and Zane Gurwitz are the only two Longhorns to start every game for Texas…Barrera has made starts at catcher (19), third base (13), designated hitter (6) and first base (2) while Gurwitz has started in centerfield (22) and at second base (18)…Kody Clemens has played in all 40, with 39 starts.
