2006 SEASON
· Posted a 5-2 record, three saves and a 3.80 ERA, which ranked 16th among league hurlers.
· Tied for the second on the club in appearances (23) while making nine starts and ranking third on the team in victories.
· Struck out 39 and limited opponents to a .263 average over 64 innings.
· Went 4-0 with a 3.62 ERA and 27 strikeouts over 44.2 innings as a starter.
· Made six appearances, including two starts, during conference action
and registered one save and six strikeouts over his 9.1 innings.
· Gave up just one earned run (0.68 ERA) in his two postseason starts (both victories) while holding opponents to a .250 average against over a team-best 13.1 innings. He recorded two of UT[apos]s three postseason wins.
2006 HIGHLIGHTS
· Earned his first career save by working two hitless innings of relief to close out a 3-1 UT win over Houston (2/10) during the Houston College Classic.
· Made his first two starts of the 2006 season at No. 3 Rice (3/7) and against No. 19 Long Beach State (3/12). He worked six innings in both victories to log seven strikeouts and two walks in 12 innings en route to being named the Phillips 66 Co-Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on March 14.
· Hurled a scoreless ninth at Texas Tech (3/17) to earn his third save of the year.
· Tossed 1.1 hitless frames against No. 2 Rice (3/22).
· Worked 4.1 innings in a start at No. 14 Oklahoma (4/1) and gave up one run on two hits while fanning three.
· Threw 1.2 innings of shutout relief, in which he walked one and scattered three hits, versus No. 19 Baylor (4/15).
· Allowed only one run on four hits over 4.2 innings of work in a start against Texas State (5/2) during which he walked only two while striking out five.
· Scattered five hits and allowed only one walk over six innings en route to combining on a 4-0 shutout of Texas Tech (5/24) during Big 12 Tournament play on his way to earning All-Tournament Team honors.
· Recorded career-highs in innings pitched (7.1) and strikeouts (7) en route to earning a victory over UT Arlington during the opening round of the Austin NCAA Regional Tournament. He allowed only one earned run and two walks while scattering eight hits against the Mavericks.
· Pitched for the McKinney Marshals of the Texas Collegiate League, the league champion.
· Made two starts for the Marshals, logging a 2.70 ERA and nine strikeouts in 10 innings before missing the remainder of the season with an injury.

2005 SEASON
· Tallied an 8-0 record and an 2.10 ERA, which ranked second on the club and 20th nationally, making 15 appearances including 12 starts.
· Became the first UT freshman pitcher to collect eight or more wins in a season since Kirk Dressendorfer in 1988.
· UT went 11-1 during his 12 starts on the year and boasted the top ERA for any Texas starter.
· Held opponents to a .214 batting average against while striking out 46 and walking only 31 over 73 innings.
· Combined on two of UT[apos]s 12 shutouts and posted one complete game.
· Averaged 6.0 innings and almost four strikeouts in each of his starts.
· Started one game while relieving another during his two appearances in Big 12 play as he picked up one win over his 8.2 innings of work.
· Went 3-0 with a 2.10 ERA in four postseason starts and one relief
appearance as he threw 25.2 total innings and struck out 19. Also started one College World Series (CWS) game and struck out six over 6.1 innings.
2005 HIGHLIGHTS
· Recorded his first win in his first career start as he tossed five scoreless frames, allowed only two hits and struck out three versus UT Pan American (2/9).
· Hurled six shutout innings and allowed only three hits while striking out a pair versus UT San Antonio (2/15) en route to tallying his second win of the season and combining on his first career shutout.
· Picked up a win against Texas State (4/5) in which he worked six innings and allowed only one run on two hits before retiring 18 in a row.
· Tossed 5.2 innings at No. 15 Rice (4/20) and surrendered only two runs on two hits while walking a pair and fanning six during a 7-6 UT victory.
· Struck out a pair while scattering six hits over five frames of scoreless work opposite UT Pan American (5/3) en route to picking up his fourth win of the season and his second career combined shutout.
· Started his first Big 12 contest versus Texas A&M (5/22) and picked up the win, yielding one run on three hits and two strikeouts in his first career complete game, a seven-inning effort.
· Tallied his sixth win of the season during the Big 12 Tournament after hurling six innings and surrendering only one run while striking out three versus Oklahoma State (5/27).
· Made two starts during the Austin NCAA Regional opposite Quinnipiac (6/3) and Arkansas (6/6), tossing 11.1 innings and allowing only two earned runs while striking out eight en route to picking up one win and helping Texas advance to the Oxford NCAA Super Regional.
· Hurled 6.1 frames during the 2005 College World Series versus No. 4 Baylor (6/22) and surrendered only four hits while striking out a career-best six en route to helping UT win the national title.
· Pitched in a total of four games while making one start for head coach Kyle Hope[apos]s McKinney Marshals in the Texas Collegiate League (TCL) during the summer of 2005. Helped his club compile a 29-22 record and finish as the runner-up in the league championship. Also boasted a 0.56 ERA as he fanned eight over 16 innings of work for the Marshals.
HIGH SCHOOL
· Four-year letterwinner as a pitcher for Coach Jon Wunderlich[apos]s Weimar (Texas) High School baseball squad (2001-04), who helped the Wildcats win state championships in 2001 and 2003. He was the winning pitcher in the title game of the 2001 tournament.
· Became a two-time district MVP as well as THSBCA and TSWA All-State performer as a senior by collecting seven wins, compiling a 0.89 ERA and fanning 146 over 71 frames. Also earned a spot on the Texas High School All-Star Team in 2004.
· Registered a 9-0 mark, 0.32 ERA and 117 strikeouts in 65.2 innings in 2003 en route to garnering first-team all-district and Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association (THSBCA) as well as Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State accolades.
· Selected to play in the Area Code Games and was a member of the
preliminary list for the USA Junior National Pan American Team during the summer of his junior season.
· Tabbed an all-area hurler and the district MVP as a sophomore in 2002 by going 12-5 with a 1.54 ERA and 151 strikeouts over 104.2 innings.
· Posted a 4-0 record, a 1.56 ERA and 45 strikeouts over 27 innings as a freshman en route to being named the league[apos]s Newcomer of the Year.
· An honor roll student who also was selected to Who[apos]s Who Among American High School Students.
· Selected in the 41st round overall of the 2004 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Chicago Cubs.
· Pitched for head coach Phil Cross[apos] Houston Heat baseball team during the summer of 2004. Also played in the inaugural AFLAC All-American High School Baseball Classic over the summer.
PERSONAL
Born Kenn Anthony Kasparek on Sept. 23, 1985, in Houston, Texas ... parents are Don and Louise Kasparek ... has one older brother, Andrew, who played college baseball at Temple College (2001-02) and Sam Houston State (2003-04) and finished his career with SHSU having amassed the second highest batting average in school history ... his grandfather, Alfred Kasparek, pitched for the Sherman-Denison Twins in 1946 ... majoring in education/applied learning and development ... has spent three semesters on the Big 12 Commissioner[apos]s Honor Roll.
