BEFORE TEXAS
· Earned one letter as a pitcher at Florida State University in Tallahasseee.
· Logged a 1-0 record with a 4.40 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 14.1 innings to help the Seminoles to a 49-13 mark as a freshman.
· Earned his first collegiate win with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief in a 6-5 win over No. 21 North Carolina State (4/8).
· Pitched for Coach Brent Alumbaugh[apos]s Brazos Valley Bombers of the Texas Collegiate League (TCL).
· Earned TCL Freshman of the Year honors, posting a 2-2 record, 1.57 ERA, .163 opponents[apos] batting average and a league-high 51 strikeouts.
HIGH SCHOOL
· Three-year letterwinner as pitcher and infielder for Coach Tim Harkrider at Kilgore (Texas) High School.
· Earned District 17-4A MVP, MVP East Texas and second-team Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State honors while helping Kilgore win the district title with a 27-7 record as a senior.
· Compiled a 12-2 record with a 1.10 ERA and batted .475 as a senior.
· Garnered third-team TSWA All-State, District 17-4A Offensive Player of the Year and All-East Texas honors to help Kilgore win the district title with a 25-7 record as a junior.
· Logged an 11-3 record with a 1.50 ERA and batted .496 as a junior.
· Batted .310 and posted a 3-1 record with a 3.20 ERA to earn all-district honorable mention as a sophomore.
